I'm simply mesmorised by the work of Russian photographer Ruslan Rakhmatov. He doesn't just do portraits, there's some very evocative street photography in his portfolio too, however the portraits are what have me hooked.
His portraiture seems to be exclusively of women and girls, in a style reminiscent of Rembrandt - though he sometimes has the key light wrapped around more front-on than Rembrandt used to, forgoeing the famous 'Rembrandt triangle'. What's so hypnotic is the transition from highlight to shadow. There is a velvety softness to it that is so pleasant for the eye, I can just stare at these images all day. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
I'm linking here to his 'enigma' exhibition dated 2018, but there's plenty more to his portfolio to be seen and enjoyed.
